The Pillar of Pontos | Cuepoxy Collectible Mug #30
Secure checkout
In Hesiod’s Theogony, Pontos is the primordial sea, born from Gaia before the familiar Olympian sea gods. Cuepoxy’s The Pillar of Pontos imagines that ancient presence rising in a column of ocean-inspired materials. The pillar is an artistic interpretation, not an object described in the ancient poem.
Coral-like forms and crystals gather above a resin base, with the colors of sea and mineral coming together in a vertical composition. The original artwork began the Cuepoxy Mythological Gallery. On collectible mug #30, it brings the collection back to its source with every coffee or tea break.

Artist’s Note
I built this piece before I knew it would begin a gallery. As I assembled the coral-like forms and crystals on the resin base, the pillar took on a presence that led me toward the story of Pontos. The artwork featured on this mug is a real, handcrafted Cuepoxy piece in my private collection; the physical original is not included with the mug. This is collectible mug #30 of 30, created so the image can be enjoyed beyond the private collection. The artwork may also be presented in other formats, including wall art.
