In Greek tradition, Hecate is associated with crossroads and the torches that light the way through uncertain places. Hesiod’s Theogony honors her reach across earth, sea, and sky. Her torch is a fitting image for a moment when the next path is not yet clear.

The Torch of Hecate brings that idea to Cuepoxy’s handcrafted coastal artwork: a pale figure rises from a sea sponge above a circular resin base with turquoise and teal details and a dark pearl. On this mug, the image offers a small point of light for the everyday crossroads, a pause before choosing your way forward.

Artist’s Note

When I placed the pale figure above the sea sponge, I imagined the steady light of a lighthouse against a stormy coast. The artwork featured on this mug is a real, handcrafted Cuepoxy piece in my private collection; the physical original is not included with the mug. This is collectible mug #9 of 30, created so the image can be enjoyed beyond the private collection. The artwork may also be presented in other formats, including wall art.
