In Greek mythology, Briareus was one of the Hecatoncheires, the Hundred-Handed Ones. When Zeus freed the brothers during the war against the Titans, their immense strength helped bring the conflict to an end. Homer also tells of Briareus taking his place beside Zeus when other gods threatened to bind him, a presence powerful enough to stop the plot.

The Arms of Briareus imagines that strength beneath the sea. In Cuepoxy’s original artwork, coral, shells, and ocean textures surround a figure that seems to reach outward like a living reef. On this mug, the image offers a daily reminder that strength can be found in what we protect and support, not only in what we overcome.
